Every so often I have to stagger out of the shed to greet the fresh air in an effort to wake up enough to carry on working! On which subject I must tell you this music is wholly approved by our cats :-)

No poxy 16bit wankiness here IвЂ™ll have you know! Plus, the synth arsetocracy might deem it a deplorable bag of poo for all I know :-DД«TW these works are created and mastered at 32bit, then uploaded to Bandcamp at 24bit. So I donвЂ™t want these to cost like one of my more intricate non-ambient works. Additionally, although a ton of work goes into setting them up, they donвЂ™t take super long to produce. The devil then, is in the detail and I really do like these kind of works, because even I get to experience surprise at the outcome of these things, if surprise is the right word.

Nowt that ainвЂ™t been done before IвЂ™m sure! The main ambient tracks themselves are self-generating and based on random arpeggiation slowed down to the point of full caffeine withdrawal. I canвЂ™t entirely remove rhythm from the equation, so IвЂ™m allowing quiet, bare-bones sequence/percussion elements. I donвЂ™t have anything like that kind of attention span I was raised on 1970вЂ™s orange squash ffs!! Thus, I insist on reasonable development, nice harmonics and resonances, not so much atonality. Rather hard for a fidgety non-minimalist like myself! IвЂ™ve listened to some popular ambient works which you could quite literally make a cup of tea, take a dump and feed the cat to and they still wonвЂ™t have got anywhere by the time you get back.

Only, with these works I really donвЂ™t want to hear myself either over-tracking or over-producing in any way. ItвЂ™s become my second musical passion at this time. If you are familiar with my вЂњHarmonics In The SilenceвЂќ series, youвЂ™ll already know of my leanings in ambient direction. This kind of music is perfect for relaxation and meditationвЂ¦ or in my case вЂњnappingвЂќ, in which case IвЂ™d say itвЂ™s ideal for soothing the furrowed brow of many a grumpy old git!
